Clayton was the Conservative candidate in the 1892 general election for the seat of Hexham in Northumberland, He won with a tiny majority of 82, however it was declared void on petition because of corruption by his agents including impersonation, and was re-run in 1893 which the Conservatives lost. This electional card is highly decorative and is folding with an address to the people from the candidate. Very scarce item
