An unrecorded copy fresh to the market with the small armorial bookplate of Francis Colman [1691-1733], a diplomat of Oxford [1724-33 Envoy to Duchy of Tuscony] and father of the playwright George Coleman the Elder [1732-1794], pasted to the front inside board. A fine Oxford binding in original full goatskin with gilt decoration to the spine compartments and boards. Original marble end-papers. A sound and complete original binding in fine condition. FIRST EDITION 3rd issue printed on extra-large superior paper with the Oxford plate title-page [larger example 138x258mm]to the Old Testament [1717] and a complete number of copper-engraved plates. New initial letters and Strasburg Fleur-de Lis water-marked paper [with some occasional LL watermarked paper sheet stock from Issue 2]. A few sheets carry a paragraph sigla mark left from the Issue 2 printing. Issues 2 and 3 had a new set of engravings especially engraved for the Bible and generally illustrated the text. The New Testament has an engraving of the Annunciation [130 x255mm]. This third issue also has no printed rules between the columns. [issue 1 had printed red rules throughout].
