20 Cromek, R.H.
REMAINS OF NITHSDALE AND GALLOWAY SONGPa327
Alexander Gardner, Paisley 1880 re-issue Hardback V.g. large 8vo
7pp Foreword, xxiv, 293pp. Originally published in 1810. Brown buckram, paper label. Uncut edges. Top corner of the title-page neatly clipped. Facsimile of the orginal 1810 first edition bound in. The note at the beginning explains that the 'songs' are in fact written mainly by Allan Cunningham, and are in the traditional style rather than being from the tradition. Cromek appears not to have acknowledged the hoax and died in 1812. Alan Cunningham was a stonemason. Each 'song' has notes attached.
Price: 40.00 GBP
